We have a full calendar of events in May, including Vegan Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day Brunch, the return of Taco Waco Wednesdays, the first VBBQ of the summer, and more! Plus, we have two new accolades to announce! Full details are below!
This month we would like to congratulate and give special thanks to Tia Meer for completing three years of continuous employment with us. Tia is usually Laina’s assistant when she works on something special in the kitchen, like pierogies or pumpkin pies. She also picks up an occasional shift when we are short a body. Thank you, Tia – we appreciate you!
We are pleased to announce the gift certificate winners* for May: Jason Barnes has won a $25 gift certificate in the new subscriber drawing, and Tonya Combs has won a $10 gift certificate in the existing subscriber drawing. Congratulations to both, and thank you to all for your continued support of our establishment. (*Drawing rules are available online.)

Cinco de Mayo also marks the return of Taco-Waco Wednesday, when we feature our delicious three-taco special plus a special $3 price on bottled beer each and every Wednesday! Taco-Waco Wednesdays will run all day long every Wednesday from May 11th through September 28th.

 We were listed at #43 in the Top 100 Brunch Spots in America – making our showing as both the highest-ranked vegan restaurant and the only Orlando restaurant to make the list! Kelly and I created our Sunday Brunch partly out of tribute to our pre-restaurant days when our Sunday tradition was to sleep in, brew some fair-trade coffee and make a made-from-scratch vegan breakfast together – which would usually be ready to eat so late in the day it had to be classified as Brunch.  5% Day Beneficiary: Simple Living Institute
Simple Living Institute is our May 5% Day beneficiary. Simply dine in or take out on Saturday, May 14th, and we’ll donate 5% of your check to this cause. Simple Living Institute is a volunteer-run local non-profit that is focused on creating opportunities for sustainable living in our community. They offer a number of programs, including a monthly Organic Growers meeting, garden start-up projects, and hands-on educational workshops.

Art Opening: Scott White Presents: Collaborations
Join us as our resident artist Scott White presents a short-run showing of “Collaborations,” a collection of pieces created by collaboration between two or more local artists per piece. Scott hand-picked the artists and paired them together directing each team to create a piece especially for this show. See the results and meet the artists at the opening on Wednesday, May 25th, from 7pm to 10pm. Starting at 6pm we’ll be featuring $3 beers, and $1 off glasses of wine. Plus, enjoy a DJ on the patio. The Collaborations pieces will be on display through the end of May.

VBBQ!!
Barbecue is an American summer tradition – why should vegans be left out? Join our Vegan BBQ (or VBBQ!) from 2pm to 6pm the last Saturday of each month from May through September. Each month we’ll feature a different barbecue special, complete with all the fixin’s. Our May VBBQ will be Saturday, May 28th, 2pm-6pm. Stop by to see what’s cookin’! Plus, enjoy a special $3 price on bottled beers.
